Welcome to the April newsletter from The Little Things In Life. Spring is here at last, and as well as providing that long awaited return to lighter longer days, fresh green leaves and blossom everywhere, it also brings a wealth of new arrivals from The Little Things In Life. Our exciting news this month is the arrival of 4 new product ranges. First up is our new Vintage Jewellery range. We have added a small but very elegant and tasteful vintage selection. Several items are very suitable as wedding jewellery, but also we have several items that can be worn for every day occasions, or indeed for special occasions. We then come to of new gift selections. We have 3 new ranges of gift items. Our Wedding Gift section has some great ideas for presents for the happy couple. We have a selection of stylish photo frames, photo albums, wedding glasses and even some wedding celebration mugs. Then comes our Anniversary gift range, which includes photo albums, photo frames and a selection of anniversary mugs. We have non-specific anniversary gifts and also a selection of Silver Anniversary, Ruby Anniversary and Golden Anniversary items for the special milestones. And last but not least, our Baby gift section. Here we have a selection of keepsake boxes, money boxes, special boy or girl photo frames, and even boy or girl days of the week bibs! All of the new items can be viewed in our New Arrivals section as well as in the individual range sections. Our Wedding jewellery range continues to grow. Welcome to the March newsletter from The Little Things In Life We have been very busy over the last few weeks with new arrivals, be it writing new descriptions or taking the photographs. Spring always seems to be the start of a new year where we are all hopeful for a bright and positive year ahead and always with the thought of trying something new. We have now released over 40 new items for March, but we also recommend that you keep an eye out during the month for an update as we expect arrivals of several new bridal jewellery items and also some more jewellery stands. We have added several new ranges of jewellery mannequins. Following on from the fabulous Spring Elegance collection from Leonardo, we now have the new Simply Velvet range which not only consists of the small and tall jewellery mannequins, but this range is complemented with a shoe ring holder and also matching jewellery wraps. In addition to these, we have added Deco Butterfly range, Fiesta Nights and Superb Sequins ranges, all of which are very colourful and would make excellent gifts for both young and old. We have also added a selection of new costume jewellery which is unusual and very stylish. The new jewellery is based on flower designs and is available in several colours from black, silver, blue and pink, so there is sure to be something here to match your outfit for that special day out, an occasion or even everyday wear. Don’t forget your mothers on the 22nd March!!! Venetian Masks Masquerading as Jewellery Stands Venice has a long tradition of mask wearing, dating back to the Middle Ages and over the centuries which followed, people wore masks at many different times of the year. Some people wore them to disguise themselves either for illegal purposes or for romantic or other encounters. Many people would wear masks when they went gambling so that people to whom they owed money would not recognise them; this led to the introduction of a law in the early 18th century banning the wearing of masks in casinos. However, today most people associate the wearing of elaborate masks with the Venice Carnival, which starts two weeks before Ash Wednesday (the start of Lent) and finishes on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. Because some people abused the wearing of masks for purposes of their own, at various times in Venice’s history strict rules were laid down as to when masks could and could not be worn, for example one was not allowed to wear masks on religious occasions or in a religious establishment. However, in the 18th century women were forbidden to go to the theatre without a mask to protect their reputation! For many years the wearing of masks fell into disuse, and more especially as Carnival was banned in the 1930s by Italy’s fascist government, until late in the 20th century, since when it has become an important part of the Venice Carnival celebrations. There are many different types of Venetian masks, some being quite simple and others very elaborate. In the early theatre, the actors wore masks to represent the different set characters in the play and many of the masks worn today represent characters from the traditional Commedia dell’Arte, but others are purely decorative. If you wander around Venice you will not go far before you notice what a large number of shops there are which sell Venetian masks and you may even see some being made. Some shops also display the elaborate costumes which many revellers wear during Carnival with the masks. There are some masks which are simply amazing creations and beautiful works of art. Some of these decorative masks cover the whole face while others cover only the eyes and nose and are usually tied behind the head with ribbons. During the heyday of mask making those who made them held privileged positions in society and were able to have their own guild with their own laws. The Little Things In Life will shortly be stocking a wide variety of exciting new jewellery mannequins and jewellery stands with the Venetian mask flavour. You will find full face mask stands as well as the half mask and all are useful for storing your rings, necklaces and bracelets or indeed many trinkets. In addition to their utility function, they will decorate any room beautifully. The new Leonardo range is based on the Venetian mask theme. It is an attractive and decorative range which is very colourful and glamorous and certainly brings the true spirit of the Venetian mask to your home. |

We wanted to tell you the news that we have the first of our new spring ranges of jewellery mannequins making their debut now. We are one of the first to release these new ranges to the public - be the first to see the new Leonardo ranges of Venetian “Masquerade” jewellery stands which we have just launched on our website. Leonardo have designed something special and unique which we are sure will catch your eye and make an unusual gift. They not only make for good jewellery stands but they could easily decorate you living areas for decoration pieces. So far we have received and released the black/white range of Masquerade and also the silver, green and purple coloured versions. Also released are the new Champagne Fleur jewellery mannequins, and also the very glitzy and colourful St Tropez. This isn’t the end of the new items, we still have several more to come in the next few weeks, so be sure to keep checking for the latest new arrivals on our website. We have also added several new bright and striking colours to our scarves range. We have also just released new clip on earrings for which we have been asked on many occasions in the past. Clip-ons are not so common and for those who do not have pierced ears we will try our best to increase the range in the future. As well as conventional sparkling clip on earrings, we also have pearl ones too – suitable for wedding jewellery. We have also created a special Mothers Day Gift section with several ideas to treat your mother for her special day. We have also added several items to our special offers section, where you can pick up a bargain. We hope that you will all find something of interest and hope you can visit us again soon. |

While we are on the jewellery mannequin subject, we would like to mention that we have some exciting new mannequins coming up in the next couple of months. Mid-month January update from The Little Things In Life We have added a new range of jewellery cleaning items so you can keep all your jewellery in its original condition and banish all those tarnished jewellery items you though you wouldn't wear again..
You have bought or have been given a lovely piece of jewellery and of
course you wish to keep it looking great. Unfortunately when jewellery
(especially silver) is exposed to the air in the course of time it will
tarnish. Constant handling can also cause tarnishing as the acids in our
skin can cause discolouration. It is therefore recommended that you store
your jewellery away from the harmful influence of the atmosphere. It is
best to store it in individual boxes or in separate compartments of
trinket/jewellery boxes. If you wish to keep several items together, it is
advisable to wrap each one in some acid free tissue paper so they don’t
scratch each other. You also need to be careful not to spray perfume near
your silver jewellery or this too could damage it, so too will contact
with deodorant and hairspray. |
